A look to the past...

History of the Festival:

The Symphony of Trees was launched by Encore! in 1992 and was held that year and the following year in Franklin Square.  In 1995, the growing event, moved to a new home in the Oakley-Lindsay Civic Center, quadrupling the display space.  Festivals were also held there in 1997, 1999, 2001, 2003, and 2005.  In 2008, the Festival was looking for a change and decided to host the event at the Ambiance.  This new venue offered intrigue and character! In 2012, the festival will take on a cozier atmosphere as we go "Home for the Holidays" at the Holiday Inn. This has created excitement and interest among the sponsors, designers, and organizers as to exciting possibilities for the Festival.

Fast Facts:

  • Attendance at past festivals stands at approximately 5,000 paid admissions per festival.
  • The event is put together and staffed entirely by volunteers—there is no paid staff.
  • There are 12 committees with more than 50 committee members.   Approximately 150 community volunteers staff the two-day event.
  • Volunteers, designers, and sponsors are drawn from throughout the Tri-state area, and visitors travel to the festival from throughout the Midwest.
  • Over $500,000 has been raised since 1992, with all profits returned to the area youth music programs.
